Pungo Lake is a part of the Pocosin National Wildlife Refuge. It is located down east west of the Pamlico Sound in the area around Belhaven and Plymouth NC. The population ratio of black bear to human is 6:1.

There are so many species of wildlife around the refuge. The farmers will plant and harvest crops such as soy beans and corn on the refuge leaving some behind for the animals. Tammy, Jake and I went out to the refuge looking for black bear and any other animals we could find to photograph. The black bear were too far away to take good photographs this day. But we did find some animals who took the time to pose.
