It’s always fun when you can combine a convention with a fun photoshoot. Such was the case with my trip to Charleston, SC. I was there for a dollhouse/miniature convention and had two days free to go with my cousin, Bonnie and my room/travel mate, Naomi on a sightseeing adventure and photoshoot in and around the Charleston area.
We started our day in the afternoon when Bonnie got off from work. The first stop was the Angel Oak Tree. We got there right before closing and did not have as much time as we would have liked. A bit of history of the tree, the tree os believed to be about 400-500 years old, stands 66.5 ft tall, measures 28 ft in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet. From tip to tip Its longest branch distance is 187 ft.
Our next quest was to find Old Sheldon Church. We actually went past the ruins that were on the right and decided
to turn left at the next road (309-271 State Rd S-7-235) which actually was like a causeway across a lake or wide river. I tried to find the name of the body of water but could not. This was my chance to do some bird photography. I had Bonnie let me out while I had fun snapping pictures of Herons and Egrets. I did however miss the chance for a Cormorant with his catch that was on the rocks at the edge of the highway.
